Tamsin Johnson

Sydney based interior designer, Tamsin Johnson, has a distinctive way of mixing interior styling with unique furniture pieces to create spaces that are eclectic and refined without feeling over designed. Her palette is clean and fresh, open and light, combining elegant contemporary taste with colourful sculptural pieces, antiques and plenty of character.

Tamsin Johnson’s career began after a move from the fashion industry to the Inchbald School of Design in London to study interior design. From here she spent some time establishing the groundwork for her own style, working with design firms around London, before moving back to Australia. She spent the next four years at renowned studio Meacham Nockles McQualter, designing restaurant and cafe spaces, retail stores and homes across Sydney and Melbourne. After working under this dynamic trio, she left to start her own practice.

Tamsin’s work is full of personality, working closely with each client to design, functional spaces (be it for retail, hospitality or residential) that achieve the most visually aesthetic outcome. Working with both new and existing structures to create interiors that are timeless, Tamsin Johnson Interiors has a refreshing approach that is not ‘decorated’ in the conventional sense, but more styled.

The results are comfortable, inviting rooms, full of colour and life. These are spaces that have the normal imperfections of age. These are places that are designed for living, working and being in.
