Tamsin Johnson is an interior designer whose work manifests a certain devil-may-care energy, all the while underpinned by a rigorous planning of proportion, form, colour and texture.

This knack of appearing effortless brings the ultimate level of sophistication to her work as illustrated by her residential, commercial and hospitality projects.  Hence the sense of play is evident in the contrasts of scale, the bold use of art and the sculptural nature of the furniture pieces she selects or commissions, which combine to genuinely surprise and delight.

This all makes sense when her background is unpicked. The child of an antique dealer she learnt some ground rules early on – good pieces would always be good and never overlook the value of comfort. A fashion training in London and a stint with Stella McCartney pre-dated a course at the Inchbald School of Design in London. Moving back to Australia, she worked for Sydney studio Meacham Nockles McQualter, designing restaurant and cafe spaces, retail stores and homes across Sydney and Melbourne. After four years, in 20xx, she set up her own practice.

Tamsin Johnson Interior Design operates globally, with projects in New York Paris and London, reinventing existing spaces and creating new ones. She manages to blur the lines between residential and hospitality while developing new interior worlds that reflect the contemporary desire for retail experiences which have a touch of theatre, a point of view and the ability to intrigue.
